Project name: Semi-settled lamb farm and smart management program
Entity information: Jix LLC was established in 2003 to operate a semi-settled lamb farm. The company won the Best farmer award of the Tuv province in 2011 and the Best farmer of the state award in 2014.
Project objective: By renewing the sheep flock structure and organizing in a semi-settled farm, create a climate change adaptive and smart managed farm, reduce operational expenses, radically increase the lamb productivity and marketability, generate short term benefit cycle by livestock commercialization, supply the market with cholesterol less meat with the traceable origins, and increase number of workplaces.
Planned activities: Enable opportunities to balance livestock headcount and pastureland capacity by creating a sheep stock with at least double the productivity of Mongolian sheep. Develop value-added chain and productive partnership that connects between herders and producers. Implement an electronic database of the flock and livestock genealogy, conduct training, and introduce electronic census methods in the region. Implement the internationally adopted chip-based smart tag system and database that contains bio information, fodder, and pasture information of each sheep.
Proposed solutions: Transforming from pastoralism to semi-settled form, we will contribute to overcome climate change and its complications. The carrying capacity of the pastureland has been exceeded, due to the increased number of livestock headcount. We intend to reduce headcount by up to 50 percent by increasing the productivity per head 2-3 times.
Beneficiaries: The partners of the project, the herders we cooperate with, the initial processing plant, and end-consumers will receive either direct or indirect benefits.
Project location: Khar Yamaat valley of the Aguit mountain of 2nd bagh of the Bayantsogt soum of the Tuv province.
