Project name: Standard animal husbandry extension service
Entity information: The Center for Agricultural Economics and Innovation Development (CAEID) is part of the Mongolian University of Life Sciences (MULS). The Center specializes in agricultural economic research and analysis to ensure coordination of technologic and economic research, introduction and implementation of new inventions, new knowledge, products, advanced technologies, and methods into production, provision of methodological support for start-up companies, and conduct research projects ensuring the participation of teachers and researchers.
Project objective: The purpose of the “Standard animal husbandry extension service” project is to support sustainable and highly productive production in the animal husbandry sector by implementing extension services based on the actual demands of the animal husbandry business and developing service partnerships.
Planned activities:
Establish a training, research, and experimentation base focused on flock productivity
Improve livestock health and ensure safety and quality of animal products by creating an adequate system structure of veterinary service
Proposed solutions:
Improved livestock quality and breeds will lead to further increase of productivity and quality, advancing the livestock commercialization efforts benefiting the herders, farmers, and the participants of the following layers of the supply chain
Implement an online tracking system in livestock breeding selection, veterinary service, forage cultivation, pastureland protection, and proper use, and animal, raw material, and product movements
Beneficiaries: The direct beneficiaries of the project are 692 herders and farmers of Batsumber soum of Tuv province, out of which 115 are the dairy farmers and 3 veterinary service points and livestock breeding technology service units
